Our toddlers participated in Clean Up Australia Day and learned about the importance of caring for our environment . Educators discussed what happens when rubbish is thrown on the ground. The children learned that garbage can end up in our oceans and make sea animals sick
To extend their understanding, we created a hands-on experience called “Cleaning Up the Ocean” ![]()
One tub was filled with water, sea animals, and pieces of “rubbish” like wrappers and plastic bottles ![]()
Next to it was a clean tub.
Using tongs, the children carefully removed the rubbish from the “ocean.”
“Look, I am cleaning! This is yucky!” said one child.
“Where do we put the garbage?” asked the educator.
“In the bin!” the children proudly responded
Through this activity, our toddlers:
-Developed environmental awareness
-Practised fine motor skills using tongs
-Built language and communication skills
-Learned responsibility and care for living things
We are so proud of our little eco-warriors making a big difference!
