Lunch Box Week – Building Confidence for School

Last week, we completed our Lunch Box Week as part of our School Readiness program. This wonderful experience helped build the children’s confidence and encouraged self-reliance as they prepare for school.

Throughout the week, we talked about healthy eating and being independent with our own chores. As the children enjoyed their lunch, they happily chatted about what they had in their lunch boxes and proudly showed how independent they were becoming.

Miss Thao praised everyone for being responsible and explained how lunchtime works at school—playing, eating, and learning throughout the day. Each child had the opportunity to open their lunch box and enjoy their meals on their own. Some children brought sandwiches, others brought fruit, and some enjoyed snacks like crackers and cheese.

To extend their learning, we also set up a cutting and pasting activity, where the children created their own lunch boxes using recycled paper bags and food pictures. They loved designing their healthy meals and talking about the foods they enjoy.

As we wrapped up Lunch Box Week, the children looked forward to opening their lunch boxes each day and were excited to eat the healthy foods they brought from home. This experience has not only been fun but has also helped strengthen their confidence and independence as they get ready for school.
