Exploring Emotions with Playdough – Kinder Room

Today in our Kinder room, children engaged in a creative and meaningful activity to explore emotions through colourful playdough The children were provided with different colours of playdough, each representing a feeling: -Yellow – Happiness-Red – Anger-Pink – Love-Blue – Sadness Using playdough mats, the children were encouraged to shape, mould, and express their feelings through hands-on play It was wonderful to see children: – Creating different facial expressions– Talking about how they feel– Making connections between colours and emotions This activity supported: – Emotional awareness and expression– Fine motor skills– Creativity and imagination– Communication and language development A fun and engaging way to help our little learners understand and express their feelings

Active Fun with Don – Junior and Senior Kinder Movement Session

Today, our Junior Kinders had an exciting and energetic movement session with Don We began with gentle warm-up exercises, where children stretched their arms and legs, reached for their toes, and moved their bodies in different ways to get ready They followed along with great focus and enthusiasm One of the highlights was stepping through colourful hoops placed on the ground Children practised:– Balance– Coordination – Spatial awareness Some children challenged themselves by moving quickly, while others took careful steps, building confidence at their own pace The ladder obstacle course was another favourite! After watching Don’s demonstration, the children took turns stepping and crawling through the ladder, showing determination and excitement To wrap up the session, everyone came together for a group game, taking turns and cheering each other on—such a beautiful display of teamwork and encouragement This session supported: – Gross motor development– Confidence building– Turn-taking and teamwork– Active, healthy lifestyles A fun-filled and engaging experience for our little movers!

Exploring Our Feelings in Junior Kinder

Today in our Junior Kinder room, we explored the wonderful world of feelings and emotions After watching a short story about Our Feelings, we began with a feelings check-in activity where children chose a face puppet and shared how they were feeling. We then extended the learning into a hands-on sensory experience using natural materials like rocks, gum nuts, sticks, leaves, and clay The children were invited to create their own “feeling faces” on paper plates With curiosity and excitement, they explored different materials— – Leaves for hair– Stones for eyes– Gum nuts for features– Clay to shape and mould expressions Some beautiful moments: – “I am making a happy face and eyebrows with gum nuts.” – Zemar– “Teacher, I made a happy face.” – Stella – “I made a sad face because I am feeling sad.” – Ali – Asya creatively used gum nuts and leaves to design her face It was heartwarming to see children express emotions, share ideas, and connect with each other through this creative experience This activity supported: – Emotional awareness– Sensory exploration– Creativity and imagination– Communication and social skills A truly engaging and meaningful learning experience for our little learners

Harmony Week Celebrations in Junior Kinder

This week in our Junior Kinder room, we celebrated Harmony Week through meaningful and engaging group experiences During group time, our children enjoyed listening to stories about kindness, inclusion, and respecting one another We explored different cultures by learning how to say “hello” in different languages The children proudly shared where they come from and connected with their identities: -“This is my flag, Turkey.” – Asya -“In Vietnam, we say Xin Chao.” – Hubert-“I am from Pakistan.” – Zemar-“We say Assalam-o-Alaikum in Urdu.” – Educator-“In Nepal, we say Namaste.” – Evan, Shaanbhi & Aarvin – “Good day mate!” – Ali There were smiles, laughter, and excitement as children practised greeting each other in new ways After group time, children worked together to create a beautiful “Everyone Belongs” poster using hand painting It was heartwarming to see our Junior Kinders show such enthusiasm, respect, and joy while celebrating diversity and belonging

Fluffy Fun in Our Babies’ Room

Today, our little learners enjoyed a fun and engaging sensory pasting activity! We created a cute bunny outline and provided soft, fluffy cotton balls for the babies to explore and use. As soon as they saw the setup, their curiosity sparked Some of our babies eagerly picked up the cotton balls, touching and feeling their soft texture. We encouraged them by saying, “Look at the cotton balls—they are so fluffy and soft!” It was beautiful to see them exploring, learning, and creating as they carefully placed the cotton balls onto their bunny outlines This activity supported: – Sensory exploration– Fine motor skills– Creativity and curiosity Watching their happy faces and excitement made it a truly joyful experience for babies.

Easter Day Celebrations

At Small Friends Childcare & Education, Pearl Street, we celebrated Easter in the most joyful way! Our foyer was beautifully decorated with colorful flyers, chocolate eggs, and baskets galore. From our babies’ room all the way to the 3-year-old and 4-year-old Kinder rooms, children engaged in fun Easter art and craft activities. The highlight of the day? The Easter Bunny’s visit! Dancing, singing, and egg hunts had all the children smiling from ear to ear. We wish all families celebrating a wonderful Easter filled with happiness and joy. Enjoy the Easter break!

Baby Room children enjoyed a lovely excursion to the Glenroy Library Hub

Yesterday our Baby Room children from Small Friends Early Education Pearl Street enjoyed a lovely excursion to the Glenroy Library Hub for Rhyme Time 📚🎶. The children were well prepared with sunscreen, hats, and safety checks, and travelled comfortably in the 6-seater pram with their educators 👒🧴. On the way, they enjoyed observing the trees, listening to the birds, and feeling the cool breeze, building their awareness of the world around them 🌳🐦. At the library the children happily joined the Rhyme Time session, singing songs, listening to stories, and engaging with the environment. They also enjoyed a small snack before heading back to the centre with big smiles and happy memories 😊. Excursions like this support language development, social skills, confidence, curiosity, and early literacy, while helping children connect with their local community and develop a lifelong love of books and learning

Exploring the First Letter of My Name – Junior Kinder

Our Junior Kinder children enjoyed a creative literacy activity where they explored the first letter of their names through a fun pasting activity. The children were invited to identify the first letter of their name and decorate it using colourful paper pieces and glue. After observing their peers, Ali and Zemar showed interest and joined the activity. The educator asked, “What does your name start with?” Ali smiled and proudly said, “A for Ali.” He carefully began decorating the letter A with colourful paper pieces. Zemar sat beside him and said, “Teacher, my name starts with Z!” He happily started gluing colourful paper pieces on the letter Z. Soon, Aarvin and Mia joined the activity as well. The children shared the materials, encouraged each other, and enjoyed decorating their letters together. At the end of the activity, the children were very proud of their creations and excited to show their beautiful letters to their friends and educators. This activity supports: • Early literacy and letter recognition • Name awareness and identity • Fine motor skills development • Creativity and concentration • Social interaction and sharing Learning through play helps children build confidence and a love for early literacy.

Colour Mixing Fun in the Art Corner!

Our children were excited to experiment with paints and discover new colours during our creative art activity. The children wore their art smocks and were given paper to create their beautiful artwork. The educator first demonstrated how to mix colours, and each child received a small mixing bowl and a stick to explore the paints. -Aarvin chose red and yellow. As he mixed them carefully, he watched with excitement and said, “I got orange!” –Asya selected blue and red, discovering a brand new colour as she mixed them together.-Serina chose yellow and blue, and when she mixed them she happily said, “It’s green!” After exploring colour mixing, the children used the paints to create beautiful handprint artwork, expressing their creativity and imagination. – Activities like this encourage children to explore, experiment, and learn through play while developing creativity and confidence.
